The Cardinal wrestling team barely lost to the undefeated Galileo Lions in a 36-39 loss on Tuesday.
While the match against Galileo was close pointwise, the Cardinals lost many of the matches they wrestled. However, the Lions willingly forfeited the matches they knew they couldn’t win. “They forfeited the matches we would win, and they pulled wins in classes we weren’t sure about,” senior Cesar Juarez said. “They were trying to avoid wrestling.”
On Jan. 31, the team conquered the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers in a crushing 58-4 victory. The team’s history makes reasons for lack of experience clear. “They are a new team,” senior Javier Perez said. “Last year they were just a club.” The Tigers have yet to win a game.
Join the Cardinals at 4 p.m. on Feb. 23 at home against the rival Washington Eagles.
