Despite lack of heavyweights, wrestling team prevails
By Cooper Logan
Jan. 21, 2011
The Lowell wrestlers pounced on the Stuart Hall Lions, taking a 54-30 win on Thursday.

The Cardinals forfeited two matches worth six points each, due to missing weight classes, while the Lions gave up just one. Impressively, every Lowell victory was with a pin.

On Jan. 19, the Balboa Buccaneers plundered the Cardinals in a 36-48 loss. The Cardinals lost by this narrow margin because of their lack of heavyweight wrestlers, which led to forfeits. “We didn’t have the people to fill upper weight classes, like 215 and 285 [lbs.],” junior wrestler Manuel Varguez said.

Come cheer for the Cardinals at 4 p.m. on Jan. 31 at Lick-Wilmerding against the Tigers.
