The Cardinals dominated the winless Mustangs in Friday’s game at Mike Voyne Field, leading to the Cardinals’ first victory this season and narrowly avoiding last place.

With a final score of 38-22, the Cardinals ended their season on a solemn note with a record of 1-6 in the AAA. Leading 24-12 at half time, the Cardinals battled the Mustangs to clinch the win.

Though the Cardinals were lucky against the Mustangs, they were not as fortunate against the Burton Pumas who pounced on them in the Nov. 4 game at Mike Voyne Field.

The game ended with a score of 28-32, after the Pumas quickly advanced to the end zone and scored six touchdowns while the Cardinals lagged behind with four touchdowns.

A constant factor hindering the Cardinals’ ability to obtain victories lay with their frail defensive line which opposing players exploit by breaking through and advancing in yards.

Next year, the Cardinals look forward to fresh faces and new skills that the players will bring. With six losses this season, the varsity football players are determined to change their standing next season.
