Every athlete has their bad days and good days when on the court. Although up in points many times throughout the game, the Cardinals succumbed to the Washington Eagles on Thursday in four sets: 18-25, 22-25, 25- 21, 23-25.

Junior outside hitter Reilly Fitzpatrick thought that her team could have played better, but there are lessons they can learn early in the season. “We still have to sync as a team and realize sooner how fast a lead can slip away,” she said. “This loss is good for us because we have tasted defeat and now we want revenge.”

Despite the loss, the Cardinals destroyed the Marshall Phoenixes last Friday 25-7, 25-9, 25-6. Although Marshall was not a strong team, the Cardinals never let up. Coach Daniella Morales thought that the Cardinals did well by showing their hard work in practice in the game. They had practiced many plays in the gym and executed them well on the court.

Junior defensive specialist Jasmine Decastro felt that the Cardinals had fun, played consistently and showed improvement. "Being able to make great plays shows that we are getting better as the season progresses," Decastro said.

Come support the Cardinals at 4 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 13 at June Jordan against the Jaguars.
