Sometimes we learn more from failure than success. The girls’ varsity volleyball team has had a couple of setbacks, but is in the process of learning from their mistakes as they approach their league games.

The Cardinals have not yet established an effective team dynamic as they lost to Mercy High School 20-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-18 in five sets on Monday.

Coach Jackie Randolph said she felt that the Cardinals improved their game throughout the sets. She felt that the players had some good plays, especially in the third set, but that they needed to communicate and focus more throughout the game.

Senior outside hitter Winnie Tsang said she felt that the team has a lot of potential but needs improvement. “We still need to touch up on defense and technique before the actual season,” Tsang said. “With it, we have a good chance at championships.”

Come support the Cardinals at 5:10 p.m. today at Thurgood Marshall as they take on the Marshall Phoenix.
