Varsity girls' basketball stays on top of its game

The girls’ varsity basketball team continued its reign on top of the Neff Division with a 72-23 destruction of the ISA Cobras on Wednesday.

The Cobras, who sit in last place in the Neff Division, posed no threat to the Cardinals, who easily overwhelmed them in both offense and defense.

Last Tuesday, the Cardinals trampled the Mission Bears 55-33. Despite the end result, the Cardinals’ defense was spotty and their offense was inaccurate, especially in the second half, when they gave away numerous chances to the Bears. Junior starting guard Natalie Moy and second-string sophomore guard Katarina Lum did not play due to minor injuries, and their absences were felt in the Cardinal offense.

Last Monday, the Cardinals extinguished the Marshall Phoenix 60-24. Lowell’s full-court press forced numerous turnovers from the Phoenix, who could not keep up with the Cardinals.

The Cardinals hosted the June Jordan Jaguars on Jan. 28 and treated them to a 56-37 defeat. Moy led scoring with 12 points including one three-pointer. In the second quarter, after picking off a bad Jaguar pass, Moy drove the ball to the hoop, sank the lay-up and drew a personal foul from a defender.

Come cheer on the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. today at Galileo in their second meeting with the Lions.
