The girls’ varsity basketball team galloped over the Lincoln Mustangs last Wednesday with a resounding 52-37 victory.
The Mustangs gave the Cardinals trouble in the first half. The first quarter ended with Lowell up 10-9. In the second quarter, the Mustangs knocked down a three-pointer to snatch the lead, but junior guard Natalie Moy responded by sinking her own three to take back the game. The Cardinals then scored five consecutive unanswered points to end the first half 26-19.
In the last quarter, the sloppy Mustangs gave the Cardinals a double-digit lead. Lincoln only scored only four points in the fourth, compared to Lowell’s 16.
Sophomore guard Angie Ng led scoring with 15 points, including several threes. Sophomore centers Taylor Sui and Lorna Tu’ufuli were key defensive players, picking off passes and blocking shots.
On Monday the Cardinals cruised to a 55-38 win over the Balboa Buccaneers. Starting guard Erin Ng was absent for a college interview, and Moy led scoring with a game-high 17 points.
Come cheer on the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow at Mission High School against the Bears.
