The girls’ tennis team pillaged and plundered the Balboa Buccaneers 7-0 on Wednesday.

First singles player sophomore Nancy Hong, third singles player freshman Catherine Le, first doubles team senior Rahwa Gebreslasse and junior Erica Wong, and second doubles team juniors Kiyomi Kuroda and Jessica Lee all won their matches in perfect 6-0, 6-0 sets.

On Monday, the Cardinals narrowly defeated the Redwood Giants in a non-league match.  First singles player senior Karen Etin fought back after dropping first and trailing in the second set to win 2-6, 6-3, 10-8.  Second singles player senior Nina Liu dug in ferociously for three sets to eventually triumph 1-6, 6-2, 7-5.  First doubles team Hong and Gebreslasse finished off with a solid 6-4, 6-1 win, and second doubles Kuroda and Lee also secured a close 7-5, 7-5 victory.

Last Friday, the Cardinals faced off against the Galileo Lions and emerged victoriously with a score of 5-2.  Hong breezed through an easy 6-0, 6-1 victory, and second singles player sophomore Paulina Kang also triumphed 6-3, 6-1.  Kuroda and Lee refused to run from the Lions’ roar and pulled off a strong 6-0, 6-4 win.

Come cheer for the Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. at Lowell next Wednesday as they battle the Mission Bears.
