Whoosh, the small, barely visible golf ball soared through the air and plopped on the green, soft grass. Whether it is a eagle, birdie, bogey or double bogey, the player who hit the ball still gives their team a chance to do well in a match; regardless of whether, in the end, they achieve a victory.

The girls varsity golf team flew higher than the Eagles to win the championship on Nov. 1 with a 581-541 stroke victory over Washington, becoming AAA queens for the first time since 2006. The team earned a spot in the NorCal championships in Stockton held on Monday, but finished 12th with a team score of 615.

With their drivers drawn and irons in full swing, the girls varsity golf team has steamrolled their competition in the first three games of the season. Clearly they are starting their campaign to reclaim the AAA crown after coming in second for the last three years.

The girls’ varsity golf team teed off for their third match of the season on Sept. 23, dominating in a 221-261 victory over the O’Connell Boilermakers to pull to the top of the AAA.
