Oct. 29, 2010
On Tuesday, the cross country team dominated the Marshall Phoenix, Mission Bears and ISA Cobras in its second AAA meet.

The opposing teams had only a few runners each, allowing the Cardinals to clinch the win easily. The varsity boys’ team outscored the second-place Mission Bears by 42 points and took seven out of the top 10 places. The varsity girls took the first 11 places and won by 35 points. Only the Cardinals had enough runners in the frosh-soph boys division to score.

Varsity boys runners junior William Chen, senior co-captain Corey Worthington and junior Alex Hillan placed first, second and third with times of 18:06, 18:42 and 18:46, respectively. In the varsity girls’ race, first and second place winners freshman Susan Li and senior Eileen Li finished with personal records of 22:32 and 23:04, respectively. In the frosh-soph boys’ race freshman Brian Nguyen took first with a time of 19:07, followed in second and third places by sophomores Max Niehaus and Raymond Lang with respective times of 19:21 and 19:28.

Come cheer on the Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 3 at Golden Gate Park’s Polo Field as they race the Galileo Lions and their rivals the Lincoln Mustangs.
