The boys' varsity basketball team pulled through in a 51-42 overtime victory against the Burton Pumas on Jan. 6.
Missing their starting center Jackson Miao due to an ankle injury, the Cardinals (4-0) were pushed to the brink by the visiting Pumas (3-1).
With two seconds left in the game and the Cards up 40-39, it looked like Lowell was heading for a close regulation victory. There was a late scare however, when a fan ran onto the court before the final buzzer had sounded, granting the Pumas a technical foul. Burton made one of its two free throws to send the game to overtime, where Lowell ultimately prevailed.
Come support the Cards at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at Kezar Stadium as they face the Wallenberg Bulldogs. |
