The boys’ varsity basketball team has started its season in tremendous fashion, outscoring its opposition by an aggregate of 116 points over the first four games to remain undefeated in the AAA.

On Thursday, Jan. 13, the guys demolished the O’Connell Boilermakers 76-30.

On Tuesday, Jan. 11, the Cardinals dismantled a weak Burton team 62-30 in a one-sided affair to rise to the top of their AAA division. On Jan. 7, a closer game against the Galileo Lions resulted in a 46-34 Lowell win.

In their season opener on Jan. 5, the Cardinals dealt a tough loss to the inexperienced ISA Phoenix a tough loss, with the final score a 66-28 drubbing. “There were small moments that showed our weaknesses, but we were able to bounce back and dominate the rest of the game,” senior center Thomas Kroner said. According to Kroner, the team needs to work on it’s possession game as they move forward. “We’re going to take things one practice at a time,” he said. “But we need to stop turning over the ball.”

Having faced little competition so far, the guys are preparing for a tough week three, with games against the undefeated Wallenberg Bulldogs and the Washington Eagles on Jan. 18 and 20, respectively.

Come support the Cards at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 18 at Lowell as they face off against the Bulldogs.
