After a winless preseason, the Cardinals rallied together for an impressive 4-0 rout of the Mission Bears on Tuesday in an impressive first league game.

The team easily shut-out last year’s second-place team as a solid line-up coupled with the leadership of senior co-captains midfielder Leo Harrington, defender Penn Scoble and midfielder Carlos Valadez proved too dominating for the outmatched Bears.

The team wasn’t sure how it would fare in its first game of the season. “I was expecting a tough game against them, since they were the runners up last year but we cooperated and just played better overall.” Harrington said. “I’m feeling very optimistic about moving forward.” Despite the fact that Mission lost many of its talented players this year, Harrington remains positive that the Cardinals can beat a high-ranked opponent like Mission.

Along with Harrington’s first goal, junior midfielders Max Pollard and Camilo Grabowski each scored goals that sealed the runaway victory for the Cardinals.

See the guys in action at 3:45 next Thursday at Feibusch Field as they take on the International Studies Academy Cobras and at 3:45 pm and on Thursday as they face their perennial foes the Lincoln Mustangs at Lincoln.
