Barely breaking a sweat, the Cardinals pulverized the Wallenberg Bulldogs on March 25 in an easy 5-0 victory. Compared to the previous game against Washinton, the match against Wallenberg was merely child's play for the Cardinals. "It was like a rest for us," junior first singles Oriana Chiu said. Although a few players suffered from injuries, they still embarrassed the Bulldogs.
The team put up a fight and defended the home court once again. Barely defeating Washington on March 23, the Cardinals ended the match in a 3-2 well-deserved victory. After winning two out of three doubles matches, the pressure was on Leta He, whose match would determine the team’s fate. With a mighty swoop of He’s racquet, she dominated the court, won the second singles match and defeated Washington for the day. “Leta fought so hard for that match, she practically saved the game,” sophomore Carmen Liung said.
Every year, Lowell sees Washington as their top contender, so the girls knew this match would be tough. Due to their superior skill, the Cardinals kept it together and showed the Eagles where they stand – beneath the Cardinals.
