Dribbling up and down the court past his opposition, senior boys varsity basketball co-captain Casey Chow slashes through the lane for the lay-up, an easy two points.
Chow has been playing basketball since he was in the third grade and started playing club basketball for the Dragons in sixth grade. Through his high school career, he has helped lead the JV team to a championship victory in 2008 and third place finish in the playoffs in 2009. During his two years on varsity, he helped the team snag a playoff spot last year, and has done so again in the 2010-11 season, guiding the Cardinals to first place in the Neff Division.
Despite an early foot injury in the season, Chow continued to support his team from the bench with his impressive leadership. “I would keep talking to them and encouraging the team,” Chow said. “And giving advice from the sidelines.”
By mid-season, Chow has bounced back from his injury to help his teammates on the court, and his teammates agree that his leadership has helped the team pull together throughout the season. “He has a great personality and can always lift the team’s spirits,” junior point guard Taylor Tsang said. “Without a doubt, his skills will take us far.”
