Athlete of the Month: Carlos Valadez
By Joe Fiorello
Oct. 8, 2010

“He’s one of the main reasons we win games,” sophomore defender Jeremy Lafortune said of senior midfielder Carlos Valadez, captain of the boys varsity soccer team.

Valadez is known for his superior play coordination, often setting up the plays the Cardinals use to dominate their opponent. “Carlos is our midfielder maestro,” junior midfielder Paul Stainier said. “He controls the center of the field.”

Standing at 5’11”, Valadez is one of the fastest players on the team, often leading in “touches”, counted whenever a player touches the ball, during games. “We really look up to him for leadership,” junior forward Cameron BaSaing said.

As a senior, Valadez is striving to help his team finish the season strongly. “I’m doing everything I can during every game,” Valadez said. “We definitely have a good chance for the playoffs.”

See Valadez along with the rest of the varsity soccer team at 3:45 p.m. on October 12, at Feibusch Field against O’Connell.
