At a glance in 2007, no one expected this then 5’3” blonde, curly-haired boy to run as fast as he does today. When he joined the cross-country team in his freshman year, Corey Worthington proved that appearances can be deceiving. “He was surprisingly fast at the 2007 Lowell Invitational,” senior runner Olivia Liang said.
Now taller and even speedier, senior Worthington will be leading the rest of the pack as captain of the cross-country team. The team benefits from his encouragement and inspirational work ethic. “He has grown a lot during the four years he has been on the team,” coach Michael Prutz said. “He is experienced and knowledgeable and a motivator to the team.” During the spring season, Worthington will dedicate his energy to running on the track team.
Catch him if you can in the first race of the school year at 8 a.m. on Sept. 18 at the Lowell Invitational in Golden Gate Park.
