Anti-war protesters are preparing to gather at Dolores Park on Sunday, Sept. 28 as part of a nationwide demonstration against U.S. military action.
Organizers under the coordination of anti-war coordination Act Now to Stop War and End Racism scheduled protests between Sept. 25 and 28 to coincide with a worldwide movement timed to coincide with the anniversary of the second Palestinian Intifada.
The demonstrations are to bring the troops home and end the occupation (of Iraq), coordinator Forrest Schmidt said. Now that Congress passed the $81 billion (budget bill) to support the Bush administration war effort, it shows we cant trust the politicians and that only the people can stop this. It is a disaster for the Iraqis, the troops, and the American people.
In San Francisco, protest coordinators plan to begin the demonstration at Dolores Park at noon and a march to Civic Center for a rally at 2 p.m., where speakers will voice their opposition to the war, according to Schmidt, who also said the rally will feature cultural performances and music. |
