Half-Life
Directed by Jennifer Phang, USA
This post-apocalyptic film follows a deteriorating family in Diablo County, California during the aftermath of a polar ice cap melt.
The film suffers from sketchy plot details — the mysterious disappearance of the father and his son’s telekinetic powers — and the strange animated segments that sporadically pop up, disrupting the movie’s flow. Even so, this 106-minute film strongly conveys the characters’ disturbed emotions as they explore their identities and confront other struggling families in the neighborhood
