“If you fail to prepare, you’re preparing to fail” varsity boys’ tennis coach Jimmy Rosenheim said. With solid preparation and consistent victories during their preseason, it is apparent that the boys’ tennis team is on the right track.

Their hard work was displayed through their recent matches. Despite the misty weather, the team defeated International High School by a score of 4-0 on Monday, March 16. They came back crushing Aragon with a score of 5-2 on Feb. 27, following their 3-6 loss against Tamalpais High School on Feb. 25. The boys are in good shape to compete in NorCal, a tournament for northern California’s top performing tennis players.

With NorCal on their agenda, the team is stopping at nothing to prepare for the tournament. Many of the players agree their accomplishments are due to the tremendous effort that Rosenheim puts into their team. “He tells us things to work on, knows our strengths and weaknesses and builds a strong team,” freshman varsity singles player Sean Wang said. The team strives to improve, conditioning every other day by running laps around the track, snaking around the bleachers and doing footwork drills and other exercises that help to improve their endurance, strength and agility. Many of the boys appreciate Rosenheim’s style. “He is really chill and really funny, but knows when to be serious,” Wang said.Come support the boy’s tennis team and see the training in action at 3:30 on March 26 at Golden Gate Park against Lincoln High School.
