"No matter how good you get, you can always get better and that's the exciting part."
These words, spoken by arguably the best professional golfer, Tiger Woods, relate to Lowell's golf team.
Though their record, 1-1 in the preseason, may not show it, they have been working hard and steadily improving.
The Cardinals triumphed over Wallenburg by a forfeit on Sept. 9. On Sept. 3, the Cardinals lost to Lincoln 263 - 239. Keeping her head up, senior golfer Holleigh McMasters explains that “the team could have done better.” However, the Mustangs had an advantage because they were more prepared.
They are practicing more frequently and “taking it a lot more seriously,” McMasters said.
Despite their minimally victorious season so far, McMasters explains that this year there is a lot more potential within the team. “We really want to get revenge on Lincoln in the playoffs,” McMasters said. “They act like we are no competition, and we want to show them we can play golf as well.”
But is that enough to save the girls this year and bring them to the playoffs? With the team’s confidence, they are determined to succeed this year. Sophomore Chae Kim, last year's most valuable player, is still a crucial player on the team.
Come support the girls against Marshall at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 23 at Lowell.
