Students and faculty members are expressing dissatisfaction after losing money in the school’s vending machines. “The vending machine took my dollar bill and then spat a ripped half back out,” freshman Aidan Loeser said. Freshman Mark Mastromonaco had a similar experience. “I put a five in once, I got my food but then the vending machine didn’t give me my money back, and I didn’t know where to file a report.” Some students said they did not know that they could write a report and get a refund. “I didn’t know I was supposed to file a report for the dollar the vending machine took,” junior Dan Conway said. “Is there a sign?” However, Felix Kwong, the owner of one of the school’s vendors, Laike Vending, said that the company has not received many formal complaints. All complaints of machine malfunctions must be put in an envelope and sent to Laike Vending. Assistant principal Peter Van Court said that Laike Vending comes every day after school to refill the vending machine supplies and collect money, and on Thursdays it comes to check the complaint box. Workers “attach the money to the complaint report and put it back in the complaint box,” Van Court said, adding that it is then the student’s responsibility to go to his office and check to see if their money has been repaid. Van Court also said that students seeking refunds should file a complaint as soon as they lose their money and come by his office to pick up their refund on the following Thursday. |
