The principal is asking for evaluations of his work from teachers, parents and students.
Principal Andy Ishibashi said he hopes “to get input and see how I can improve as principal of the school. I do it during my early years as an administrator.” The survey asks evaluators to rate Ishibashi’s relations with students, parents and professional faculty on a scale from one to five. The assessment also inquires about leadership and coaching/evaluation skills, as well as the productivity and organization of staff development meetings, with space for additional comments and criticism.
The majority of the responses have been positive so far. “It’s actually very flattering,” Ishibashi said.
Ishibashi plans to pay special attention to constructive criticism. “The evaluations are for myself to look at and review … not to show off,” he said. “I do this because I care.”
