On Wednesday Peer Resource celebrated its second annual Stress-Free Fair Day. The Mods 9-10 Peer Resource leadership class organized the day-long event which began at Mod 9 and included yoga classes, an inflatable jumping house and an information booth with counselors on the catwalk. “We’re doing the Stress-free Fair to provide a place for people to de-stress from their daily lives and learn ways to manage their stress,” peer mentor coach junior Veronica Tai said. Peer Resource offered professional yoga classes in the dance studio and the gymnasium during Mods 9-15, inviting physical education classes and individual students to stop by. Peer Resource members distributed handmade brochures and posters alongside commercial ones about stress and nutrition throughout the week. “There was a recent study about how kids are neglecting to eat healthy foods and eating a lot of junk food, especially when there is a lot to stress about,” peer mentor coach Richard Luu said. “We want to promote healthy snacks that help the body and brain breathe and function better.” Tai hopes the fair helped students feel “more relaxed and learn new ways to manage stress.” She wants students to be able to take what they learned and apply it to daily life.
