Headsets purchased for APs (12/07) PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Written by Cynthia Chau
New headsets will be used for Advanced Placement language exams in the spring.
Counselor Bob Jow ordered the headsets, using funds from the Alumni Association and Kermesse in order to meet an AP Chinese exam requirement. The College Board recommended specific headsets for their quality, according to Jow.
Originally, the headsets were earmarked for the AP Chinese exam but they will be used for other language exams. “It was a requirement for AP Chinese but we can use them for other language exams also,” language lab technician Vlad Talian said.
The College Board funded the 90 headphones which cost $25 to $35 a piece, according to Jow. He initially purchased the headsets, “but then the College Board suddenly had a change in policy and reimbursed (us for) them,” Jow said.
The headsets will only be used for the AP language exams. During the regular school days they are locked in the language lab storage.
