District to offer swim classes (11/07) PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Written by Liana Huang
Spring semester swim classes will most likely be held at the pool at St. Ignatius due to the remodeling of Charlie Sava pool.

“S.I. is closer than the Balboa Pool,” swim instructor Terence Doherty said.
The number of swim classes the school will offer has not been determined. “It depends on if there are enough sign ups on the course requests,” assistant principal of curriculum Mary Streshly said.
Students taking swim classes must make their own transportation arrangements to and from the pool. “There is a strong possibility that there won’t be transportation provided because the district has not confirmed our request for it,” Streshly said. She added that parents can request exemption from the swim test from the principal as a “last resort.”
The next swim test will be at Balboa Pool on Nov. 28, a professional development day. Another swim test will be held during the California High School Exit Exams in February.
