Teachers raise funds by performing dares (10/07) PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Written by Sanyee Yuan
Seniors are asking fellow students to donate money to see teachers act outrageously.

The Class of 2008 Senior Prom Committee is holding a fundraising event called Dare-a-Teacher to raise money for senior prom in May.

Teachers will act out these dares at the Halloween rally on October 31.

Social studies teacher Alex Schwarz agreed to wear a dress and social studies teacher Monty Worth promised to don similar garb and challenge him in a walk-off, provided $888 are raised by the end of October.

Students are excited about the teachers performing their dares. “A dress would really suit Mr. Schwarz,” senior Daniel Goldberg joked.

A meter is set up on the catwalk to chart the committee’s monetary progress for each teacher’s dare so students can monitor the fundraising.

“I think it’s definitely creative,” senior prom committee member Diana Yu said. “The fundraiser is something new and different which hasn’t been tried yet.”

Teachers interested in performing dares can speak to senior prom committee members, who have compiled a list of potential dares.
