“It’s our 100% team this year,” junior third year returning
varsity player Dylan Tong said.
With all of last year’s varsity members back on the team and
several strong new additions, expectations for the boys’ varsity tennis team
are higher than last year. “There is a lot of new talent this year,” Tong said.
“The potential is much higher because they have a lot more experience before
coming to Lowell.” Sophomore second year returning varsity player, Kameron
Chang agreed with Tong. “There are some pretty good freshmen this year, leading
to a stronger team overall,” he said.
The smell of sweat and revenge hung in the air as the stampede of footsteps diminished and the buzzer rang in the Lowell gym.
The JV boys’ basketball team ended its season with a heartbreaking 10-point defeat at the hands of the Lincoln Mustangs on Feb. 10. Despite placing behind their rivals, Washington and Lincoln, the team finished with a respectable record of 16-3.
En garde! The varsity fencing team is putting their hands to their hilts and their heads in the match for another season of attacking, flicking and parrying in merciless bouts.
The varsity fencing team has begun practicing for its spring season, and boy, do they look sharp. Junior fencer George Feng ruled the floor in “king of the hill” during practice last Friday. Freshmen Walter Pan challenged him in a bout and undoubtedly impressed the team with his technique.
Despite losing assistant sprint coach Sean Gwi, head coach Andy Leong still holds high expectations for the track team
this year since they performed so well in the championships last year.
