The boys’ varsity soccer team has continued to rise to the challenge each game this season, making them the number one team in the AAA league.
The Cardinals work well together to dominate each opponent. “We have a team dynamic,” senior co-captain and sweeper Zack Deutsch-Gross said. “At this stage, we can’t pick any one player to embody the team; you can’t win with one player.”

Standing at 5’ 8” and sporting jersey number 29, the forward swerves and moves like a blur past his opponent and toward the opposition’s goal with ease, grace and speed. Within a blink of an eye, he scores his eighth goal in his sixth game of his sophomore soccer career. Who is this incredible player, you ask? He’s the one, the only: Jesus Sanchez.

In a classic football fantasy, the running back clutches the ball and is filled with bolstering adrenaline, cutting left past the defensive back, and then sprinting straight ahead, a touchdown seems imminent. Only 20 yards left and …THUD! The running back gets a full-on head-butt into his back. The running back, however. keeping on his feet, charges forward — TOUCHDOWN!

“No one gets left behind.” This cliché does not apply to athletes — the harsh reality for the Lowell cross country team is that while some runners will continue on to become champions, others will not be able to handle the pounding pressure that it takes to win consistently.
