Juniors and others escape to Greece at themed affair (2/07) | Print |  E-mail
Feb. 23, 2007
Half-naked Lowellites got down and got Greek at the toga-themed junior escape on Jan. 25 at The Canvas, a café in the city.

Organized by the 2008 junior escape committee, Toga Toga was successful in many ways. Many students enthusiastically embraced the idea as evidenced by the number of toga goers, approximately 100 students. “ I thought the theme was really original,” junior Kevin Obana said. “ The [committee] did a good job.”

The most celebrated togas came from the Toga God and Goddess, juniors Adam Berke and Jojo Ho, who were elected at the end of the dance.

People had mixed opinions about the dance itself. “I thought the music was horrible,” junior Max Newman said. Others simply enjoyed the experience, including junior Matto Digulio who said that “Whoever didn’t wear a toga was a loser.”

While she shared no such harsh feelings about non-toga wearers, junior class president Emily Mock definitely stressed the importance of costumes to the event. “We wanted to create a theme so that people could dress up,” she said.

Profits from Toga Toga will go to the junior class and will be used to help fund more dances for the class of 2008.
