The Alumni Association collected more than $225,000 in donations last year, a sum that eclipses the previous year's earnings by almost 40 percent, according to an officer.
The association plans to award approximately $117,000 to the Visual and Performing Arts department to help fund the long-anticipated conversion of Room 110 to the Steve Silver Theatre, stated Terence Abad, vice president of Planning and Development for the Lowell Alumni Association.
The grant program, which provides $50,000 to teachers and departments along with $30,000 for student scholarships, will continue this year as planned.
The upcoming 2003 annual fund campaign will focus on collecting money for a state-of-the-art computer-based language lab for the world languages department, according to Abad. |
